Our group was small this time but engaged with many great questions on this new information from youth, young adults, and adults.

2022.11.02 – Community screening of the multi-award winning film “California’s Forgotten Children” hosted by Wisdom International: Help2Others in collaboration with the Marin County District Attorney’s Office via Zoom.

What a great film! We had 76 attendees and a lively discussion afterwards. Bits of the information in the film have changed so these were explained showing how we in the Bay Area take very seriously all sex trafficking and are making the necessary changes.

2021.09.01 – “Elks What’s Wrong Here – Human Trafficking in Marin,” hosted by Elks Lodge #1108 Drug Awareness Program, to explain the reality of this crime in our community.

Another successful educational event with the Elks Lodge in San Rafael. Elks and the greater community attended to learn the facts of this crime in Marin. There were great questions for both of our speakers and stories from the audience, each adding their bits to the evening.

2019.10.17-18 – “Drugs and Our Community – Negative Impacts and Connecting for Positive Action,” a 2-Day Conference by the Drug Awareness Program (DAP) of Elks Lodge #1108 in San Rafael, California.

The historic Boyd Mansion, San Rafael, CA
home of Elks Lodge #1108.

Top information about drugs’ pivotal position for many, for most, of the ills of society, including sex trafficking. Experts in each field, including Wisdom International: Help2Others, came to share their knowledge, spread understanding, dispel myths and build a network of informed people ready and willing to take action.

2018.01.11 – National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month – “Targeting Demand,” to discuss the link and chain cycle of supply and demand of sex trafficking including interruption solutions with Elks Lodge #1108, Shared Hope International Ambassador, Mankind and Feet 2 Da Street at Elks Lodge #1108, San Rafael, California.

Prevention education includes education for buyers of sex with children, what we in the industry call ‘Demand’. For this community event we brought together experts in their own areas of human trafficking and domestic violence.

2017.05.12 – “Playing The Game and INTERNET SAFETY,” with Elks Lodge #1108, Shared Hope International and Special Guest Speaker, San Rafael, California. In collaboration with the Elks, this time we emphasize teen empowerment and recruitment tactics used in our local neighborhood, as told by a young Survivor.

The bravery of every Survivor to stand up and tell their story to strangers is something we at Wisdom International will always respect. This young girl’s bravery enables us to learn the truth, and then pass this truth on to our communities. Without their bravery, we would still be oblivious to the great harm that is perpetrated upon vicitms of this pervasive yet hitherto hidden crime. Thank you to you and every other Survivor. May you thrive.

2016.10.27 – National Substance Abuse Prevention Month – “Drugs and Sex Trafficking in Marin: What You Need to Know Now,” hosted by the Elks Lodge #1108 Drug Awareness Program with Shared Hope International Ambassador and Special Guest Speakers, at the Elks Lodge, San Rafael, California.

This is a comprehensive training discussing the multi-fold problems of opioid and prescription drug use in Marin County as well as the inextricable interconnections between drug use and sex trafficking from well-known and less-known angles.

2016.01.16 – National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month – “Man-to-Man Discussions about Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking of Teenagers,” a Men Only event for the Community by Elks Lodge #1108, Shared Hope International and Special Guest Speakers, San Rafael, California.

Men speaking with Men. This training emphasized that human trafficking is not a ‘woman’s issue’ but an issue for humanity and that the voices of men are critical in prevention and all anti-human trafficking efforts.

2015.09.15 – “Protecting Teenagers – An important community meeting about the Crime of Sex Trafficking in Marin and What You Can Do to Stop It,” hosted by the Elks Lodge #1108 with Soroptimist International of Marin, Shared Hope International and Special Guest Speakers, San Rafael, California.

We return to the Elks for another community training and the screening of What Is Human Trafficking?, a move by the Soroptimist International of Marin, and tonight shown alongside Chosen by Shared Hope International. The Survivors in each film speak about the recruitment tactics used by traffickers that trick them. The films were followed by a panel of experts made up of several law-enforcement Officers and Deputy District Attorneys from Marin County.

2015.05.19 – “Examining Recruitment Tactics Luring Children into Sex Trafficking, a Documentary Film Presentation and Panel Discussion on Human Trafficking, a Global, a Local Pandemic,” hosted by the Elks Lodge #1108 with Shared Hope International, San Rafael, California.

Bringing awareness of the local problem of human trafficking to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, opening the doors to a series of events for Elks members and the community that have either highlighted human trafficking or combined this crime with the serious issues of drug addiction and abuse.

Would you like to educate your community about this crime? Do you have an event in mind?
